Pivetal® Butorphanol (butorphanol tartrate) Injection is a synthetic,
centrally acting narcotic agonist-antagonist analgesic with potent
antitussive activity. It is indicated for the relief of pain associated
with colic and postpartum pain in adult horses and yearlings.
▪Contains 10 mg butorphanol base per mL as butorphanol tartrate
▪Recommended dosage is 0.1 mg/kg (0.05 mg/lb) by intravenous injection
in horses
▪Store at controlled room temperature 20°–25°C (68°–77°F) and protect
from light
▪Use within 56 days of first puncture with a maximum of 10 punctures for
the 50 mL vial
▪Supplied as one 50 mL vial
